The Allegany County Board of Education approved its Capital Improvement Plan this week. Seven projects are listed for Fiscal Year 2026 – an Early Childhood Center is planned as an addition to Washington Middle School to address requirements of the Blueprint For Maryland’s Future. Pre-Kindergarten students from South Penn, John Humbird, and West Side will relocate to the new center. Planning and design funding is being requested for Frost Elementary renovations that would eventually bring in the students from Beall Elementary. HVAC work is needed at several schools and a roof replacement for West Side Elementary is scheduled.
