Allegany County Sheriff Craig Robertson is alerting the community to two phone scams currently making the rounds. The most recent involves a spoofed number that shows up on caller ID as the county Sheriff’s office targeting names on the sex offender registry…
Sheriff Robertson said a similar scam is also being reported having to do with missed jury duty and outstanding fines. Robertson says law enforcement never asks for any financial information…
If someone has given out financial information, the Sheriff says they should immediately contact their bank or credit union…
