Savage River Lodge To Become State Recreation Resource

August 3rd, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Within the $34 million dollars in federal funding requested by US Senators Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen for economic development projects in Maryland, almost $1.5 million dollars is allotted for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources to purchase the Savage River Lodge in Frostburg. The purchase will create a tract of almost 800 acres of public land in the region. Funding will support planning and renovation costs to create a public access recreation source with discounted admissions for underserved communities. The lodge business will close in late November of this year.
