Paul Sarbanes, who served five terms as a United States Senator from Maryand, died Sunday at the age of 87. Sarbanes won election to the Senate in 1976 after serving in the House of Representatives for six years. Known as a quiet politician, Sarbanes wrote the first article of impeachment against Richard Nixon, and later was a co sponsor of the Sarbanes Oxley financial reforms.
