The Cumberland Mayor and City Council authorized Fire Chief Shannon Adams to accept the Staffing For Adequate Fire and Emergency Response or SAFER grant awarded through Homeland Security and FEMA. The grant of $2.5 million dollars will go toward the hiring of nine new firefighters for the City. Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC they are always looking at ways to keep police and fire fully staffed…
“We’re always looking for new people as people retire and this is significantly help us in our ability to hire people for our firefighters and our EMTs for our EMS service.”
