The location of the new Royal Farms off the Maryland Avenue exit of Interstate 68 is still in its early stages, but positive effects are expected. Mayor Ray Morriss told WCBC’s Dave Norman show that the gas and convenience store will offer the area competition that may bring down gas prices…
"Our market for gasoline has been controlled by one major firm which is really Sheets and this will bring another option in and I think you know when it comes to competition on gas prices, I think that's a good thing."
Land preparation continues at the site, and once the developer hands the lot over to Royal Farms, residents should start to see building commence in the late fall…
"Maybe as early as November you'd start to see the building being put in place. Right now they're still of course getting the site prep ready."
