The use of the word “privatization” in connection with Rocky Gap State Park caused several month’s of controversy at the end of last year- sparked by a grassroots citizens effort to “Save the Gap”. Although elected officials repeatedly offered clarifications and assurances that there were absolutely no plans on the table to close the state park in favor of commercial business development- that didn’t stop mass mailings and signs being posted county wide touting the “Save the Gap” mantra.
