Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Flintstone, Maryland will host a “20th Anniversary Week” for its award-winning Rocky Gap Golf Course Friday, May 14 through Friday, May 21. The course and resort casino will celebrate two decades of unforgettable golf experiences since Jack Nicklaus, one of golf’s greatest, played the inaugural first round at the 18-hole course of his design on May 17, 2001, with a week of discounted rounds, a member tournament, signature cocktails and more.
“Our golf course is one of the most distinctive and exciting parts of both Rocky Gap Casino and the state park,” said Vice President and General Manager of Rocky Gap Skylar Dice. “Since Mr. Nicklaus teed off here for the first time in May of 2001, the course has remained a top destination for golfers. We are thrilled to be celebrating 20 years, with many more to come.”
Festivities kick off Friday, May 14 with a signature new cocktail called “The Nicklaus,” prepared with orange juice, pineapple and dark rum, available at Signatures restaurant. The “Anniversary Week” celebration continues Monday, May 17 through Friday, May 21, when the public is invited to play Rocky Gap Golf Course, ranked by GOLF Magazine as one of the “finest courses in Maryland,” at a 20% discount per round. On Friday, May 14, members are invited to participate in an anniversary scramble golf tournament alongside renowned course designer Troy Vincent, who was the site manager for the Nicklaus Design team during construction of the course. Rocky Gap Golf Course members will receive specially designed anniversary swag including commemorative bag tags, headwear, towels, chips and tees on the day of the annual tournament.
Recently named one of Golfweek’s “Best Casino Courses,” Rocky Gap Golf Course design takes advantage of its location among the undulating hills of the ageless Appalachian Mountains and the blue waters of the adjacent lake. The 7,000-yard, par 72, 18-hole course features five tee boxes at each hole, allowing players to adjust play to their handicap. Maryland’s only Jack Nicklaus Design Golf Course also offers a 50-spot driving range, a large putting green, a chipping area and a practice bunker. The front nine is carved from mountainous, tree lined terrain with numerous dramatic elevation changes, while the back nine is spread across expansive, gently rolling meadows. Rocky Gap Golf Course offers competitive membership packages for locals and visitors alike with single and group lessons are also available.
