Congressman David Trone (MD-06) announced Maryland added 12,000 jobs in July, an indicator of our country’s strong and sustained economic recovery. According to the latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Maryland has created a total of 121,800 jobs since January 2021. Maryland’s unemployment rate has also declined, dropping to 3.9% in July.
“America’s middle class is the backbone of our economy and the key to its future success. These hardworking Americans need support, and the way Congress delivers is by putting people over politics to create long-lasting, good-paying jobs here at home,” said Congressman David Trone. “You have my word: I will always vote to help set American families up for success and build a brighter tomorrow for our future generations. This jobs report shows that we’re headed in the right direction.”
In the depths of the pandemic, Trone supported the American Rescue Plan, which got kids back in school and made sure Maryland’s small businesses could keep their lights on. Additionally, Trone voted for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, which is rebuilding our roads, bridges, and transit systems while bringing broadband and clean drinking water to more communities.
Last month, Trone helped pass historic investments in American workers with the Inflation Reduction Act and the CHIPS and Science Act. Together, these laws will restore and revitalize American manufacturing and develop clean, secure American energy, creating better-paying jobs that can never be outsourced.
As a result of many of these efforts, the United States has created 9.5 million jobs since January 2021 – an average of 529,000 jobs per month.
