“Purple Alert” Being Created in Maryland

May 20th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Governor Wes Moore has signed a bill into law creating a “Purple Alert” that will be used by law enforcement or other agencies if a person with an intellectual developmental disability or brain injury is missing.  The new alert joins other color-coded alerts for the state – amber for children and silver for senior citizens.  West Virginia also passed legislation for a Purple alert this past session.
