Anxious to move beyond what some called the“theatrics” that dominated this week’s discussion on the future of the Carver building- Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss said the priority now is to gather input from the public about the best possible uses for the facility. On Tuesday, officers from the NAACP criticized the city and the Carver Community Center Board, suggesting a case of systemic racisim. Mayor Morriss, who also serves as chair of the Carver Board, says its time to move beyond that mini controversy and focus on the real issues moving forward. As such, individaul duscissions with the Carver Outreach Communittee on June 30th from 6 to 8 pm and July 2nd for 10 am to Noon have been scheduled ar City Hall to offer their thoughts on the project.
