PROTECT Week is a focused effort statewide to bring public awareness to protecting older Americans and vulnerable adults from financial exploitation.  The Maryland Attorney General’s office states that one in five senior citizens have been the victims of fraud, losing $2.9 billion dollars a year to identity thieves.  The Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division provides important information on how seniors can protect themselves and where to report fraud or abuse.  Karen Morgan of the Maryland AARP Volunteer Executive Council described that thieves work to steal from seniors, preying on their emotions and fears…
