An expansion plan for Mountainview Landfill and the benefits it would provide was presented by Public Works Director Adam Patterson yesterday at the County Commissioner’s meeting. Patterson said the expansion would downslope from the current landfill and increase its size by 50 acres. He also presented a letter the Solid Waste Management Board of Allegany County wrote in support of the expansion, saying it will ensure compliance with federal and state regulations…
“Integrating waste-to-energy solutions and other innovative practices can generate economic benefits, including potential revenue streams from renewable energy production and new jobs. Updating our Solid Waste Management Plan to include the landfill expansion will ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.”
