A busy Friday for Cumberland City Police. At approximately 8:12 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department had responded to a financial institution on Evitts Creek Drive for an alarm. While on scene, unrelated to the alarm, the officer overheard a male subject yelling nearby. The officer then observed Paul Lepley standing near the ATM, yelling obscenities and blocking other clients from using the ATM. Lepley was told to stop creating a disturbance. He refused to cooperate with the officer. As a result, Lepley was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. Lepley was issued two criminal citations and released pending trial.

Police served a criminal summons on Martre Battle. The summons was issued as the result of an incident that occurred last week. At that time, at approximately 12:20 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department responded to Henderson Avenue at Pear Street for a motor vehicle crash. The officer determined that at-fault party and a traffic citation was issued. After clearing the scene and further investigation, the officer learned that the at-fault vehicle was uninsured. Police filed for charges against the operator, Martre Battle, at the District Court of Allegany County. Battle signed for his copy of the summons and he was released pending trial.

CHARGES: Obstructing & Hindering, False Statement to Officer (x2), Driving Uninsured, multiple traffic related charges
Police served a Baltimore County District Court arrest warrant on Courtney Purnell charging her with Assault-2nd Degree and Malicious Destruction of Property less than $1,000. Purnell was arrested and transported to Central Booking. She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on her personal recognizance.

At approximately 0015 hours officers from the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to a Bedford Street business for a female inside the business trespassing. Officers arrived and made contact with store employees who told officers that a female later identified as Misty Ann Ours had previously been told not to return to the business. As the officers approached Ours she reached out and grabbed the officers taser and attempted to pull it from the holster. Ours was taken into custody without further incident. She was transported to the Cumberland Police Department for processing. Ours was later transported to the District Court Commissioner’s Office for a hearing. At the conclusion of the hearing Ours was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment.
