Black Friday saw the beginning of the Polar Express season on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. This year celebrates the 20th Anniversary of the movie Polar Express and Scenic Railroad Director Wes Heinz says they have made additions to the show and upgrades to sound and lights on the train, ready to welcome riders to the North Pole…
“Roughly 35,000 people when it’s all said and done which is nothing to argue with. It’s a lot of people; it brings a lot of people to Allegany County, Cumberland, Frostburg – there’ll be people from all over.”
Heinz says guests on the train have even more reason now to visit Cumberland for the holiday season…
“We have so many things to be grateful for in Allegany County. You know, you can get on the train today, throughout the entire run of the show and now we have Baltimore Street. And it’s so beautiful with the shops open and new restaurants and there’s things going on. It has an endearing appeal.”
