An iconic fountain that greets visitors to Pittsburgh is celebrating 50 years in existence.
The Commonwealth dedicated the fountain at Point State Park on August 30, 1974. Its design is an ode to the city’s three rivers as a Point of Confluence, a Point of Conflict and a Point of Renewal. It was first turned on at the start of the July 23, 1974 Major League Baseball All Star Game at Three Rivers Stadium.
