On Tuesday, July 9th, 2024, an officer with the Cumberland Police Department observed a male subject on a motorized scooter fail to stop for a stop sign in the area of Park St. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the subject, the subject refused to comply and fled the area, driving onto sidewalks and narrow alleys not accessible to the police vehicle. The officer then pursued the subject on foot, and observed the operator attempting to enter a residence in the area of Charles St. The officer was able to contact the male before entering the residence, at which time the male was advised he was under arrest.
