COVID-19 cases climb slightly in Mineral County
The Cumberland Times News reports that while still remaining well beneath the threshold for levels of uncontrolled spread of the disease, COVID-19 cases increased slightly in Mineral County over the last week. Per state statistics that are updated daily, the county reported 2,571 confirmed and 304 probable cases on May 18, of which 68 were active at the time. As of Wednesday morning’s update, the county has reportedly added 26 new cases over the last seven days. On Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Alex Anthony Chermesino for leaving the scene of an accident charges. Police Serve Bench Warrant
On Wednesday, May 26th, 2021 the Cumberland Police Department served two District Court bench warrants on Nathan Allen Herrell. The warrants were issued for failing to appear for trial on May 13th, 2021 for driving under the influence, intoxicated public disturbance, failure to obey a lawful order, and resisting arrest charges. City Woman Charged with Assault

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said this week that “D.C. statehood is an idea whose time has come,” and several Democrats lined up on the floor of the upper chamber to argue for making the District the nation’s 51st state. UPMC Officials Urge COVID Patients to Consider Antibody Treatment
UPMC doctors said Wednesday that people who test positive for COVID-19 should ask their health care providers about receiving monoclonal antibody treatment as soon as they are diagnosed. Dr. Meredith Chuck, with the federal department of Health and Human Services, joined UPMC doctors for a virtual briefing in which the group made a renewed push for people to ask for and receive the treatment, which provides an infusion of antibodies to people fighting covid.
