The Pennsylvania State Police is encouraging autistic individuals to take advantage of a free safety resource designed to improve their interactions with law enforcement officers. Pennsylvania residents with autism can print out information cards through the state’s website that can be presented to police during an interaction, informing officers that the individual may be nonverbal, or hyper-sensitive to touch or loud noises. The cards also contain tips for officers, including keeping questions and commands simple. For more information go to www.pa.gov.
