March saw the best month-to-date yet for sports wagering, according to the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Commission. The ten retail and eight mobile sportsbooks generated a single month record of over $5 million dollars in sports wagering taxes to the state’s coffers. That money represents 15% of the taxable wins for the month – a total of $35.4 million dollars. A strong contributor to the month’s wagering total of $385.9 million dollars was the annual NCAA March Madness tournament. The sports wagering taxes go to the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future Fund that supports public education programs.
