Edward Root has completed what he says will be his final term on the Allegany County Board of Education, participating in the board’s final meeting of the year earlier this month. Root, an adjunct professor at Frostburg State University and previously FSU’s Dean of the School of Education, was appointed by the governor to fill a vacant seat on the local school board in October of 2019. He previously served as a member of the board from 2011 to 2016 and also served on the Maryland State Board of Education from 1999 to 2007. Root’s bid for re-election fell short as he was edged out in the November election. During his parting comments, Root wished the board members well moving forward in what is expected to be another challenging year continuing to deal with the Coronavirus pandemic…
