Today, Jewish communities across the nation will be observing the one-year anniversary of the deadly attack on Israel by Hamas terrorists. WCBC reached out to the local B’er Chayim congregation about any planned observance, but received no response. Nationally, law enforcement is concerned about hoax threats and bad actors including anti-Semitic groups or those with connections to Al Queda. In Pittsburgh, Shawn Brokos who directs community security for the Jewish Federation says tension is high…
“We are in a heightened threat environment. We’ve seen that here in the city and we’ve had a lot more extensive planning and preparation with our law enforcement partners and community leaders. And this year, too, we see the one-year commemoration of the Hamas attack on Israel which is October seventh – that falls right between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.”
