Correctional officers working for the Maryland Department of Public Safety continue to crack down on drugs being smuggled into their facilities.
A Baltimore woman was arrested today after correctional officers say they watched her hand a package filled with drugs to an inmate, over a visiting room barrier at Eastern Correctional Institution.
23 year-old Mariah Phillip was arrested when detectives recovered 150 strips of the narcotic suboxone from that package. The package also contained a memory card and a memory card reader.
Phillip was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession with intent to distribute as well as charges of possessing and delivering contraband inside of a correctional facility.

Sweetheart you are 23 years old. Your love life is in jail and he didn’t care enough about you to just enjoy the visit. He had you bring drugs he could sell. Now you are in trouble. I am sorry you didn’t understand you were being used. May God and judge see this.

This isn’t a hard problem to fix. And it isn’t an expensive problem to fix. Get the machine at every entrance that TSA uses. And have a narcotics dog stationed at the entrance to sniff every single person coming in…including the guards. Every prison should be fitted with cell phone jammers as well and they should have limited to near zero access to the internet. We have to stop running these prisons like summer camps and allowing all the privileges we allow now!
