Details of grant programs totaling nearly a million doillars were announced last week by city officials with the hope being that downtown business owners can utilize those funds to make upgrades to their properties. The Downtown Comprehensive Investment Program, which contains funds from the city of Cumberland, Allegany County and state of Maryland, was announced by the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation. CEDC executive director Matt Miller said the grant program includes three phases: façade improvement; infrastructure upgrades and residential development; and business attraction.
