On Monday July 22nd, 2024, at approximately 6:57 pm Officers of the Cumberland Police Department observed Malakhi Henderson in the area of the 500 block of Woodside Avenue, who had an active Arrest Warrant through the Circuit Court. Officers contacted Henderson who attempted to provide a false name, and fled from officers. After a brief foot pursuit, Henderson was apprehended with the assistance of a citizen in the 600 block of Elm Street. During a subsequent search a quantity of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia, and a quantity of suspected crack cocaine was located on Henderson’s person. During the search, Henderson attempted to destroy evidence and attempted to assault an officer. Henderson then began to yell, scream, and threaten bystanders who observed his behavior. While being transported Henderson repeatedly kicked the inside door of the cruiser to the point of causing damage. He was served with his Arrest Warrant and additional on view charges, and was taken before a District Court Commissioner. He was held on a $5,000 bond for the on-view charges, and was held without bond for the charges on the Arrest Warrant.
Arrest: Malakhi Deondre Henderson, Age 22, of Cumberland, Maryland.
Charge: Violation of Probation, False Name to Avoid Prosecution, Three Counts of Obstructing and Hindering, Two Counts of Resisting Arrest, Possession not Cannabis, Possession Paraphernalia, Alter Physical Evidence, Destruction of Property, Disorderly Conduct, Fail to Obey, Assault Second Degree.
