Nottingham Man Arrested in Continuing Fentanyl Sweep

On March 2, 2020, the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force and Cumberland City Police arrested William Edward Wright, 45, of Nottingham, MD in the area of Park Street, Cumberland, MD.

 

Wright was the subject of a CDS investigation for the distribution and sales of fentanyl and crack cocaine in the Allegany County area. Williams was found to be in possession of a large amount of fentanyl and large amount of crack cocaine.

 

After the arrest, investigators with the Allegany County Narcotics Task Force executed a search and seizure warrant in the 1300 block of National Highway, Lavale. Investigators seized large amounts of fentanyl, large amounts of crack cocaine, CDS packaging materials and a loaded handgun belonging to Wright.

 

As a result of the investigation Wright was charged with the following:

 

Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl

Possession Large Amount Fentanyl

Possession of Fentanyl

Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine

Possession of Crack Cocaine

CDS Possession of Firearms

 

Wright was held without bail after seeing a District Court Commissioner.

 

Also assisting with the investigation was the Allegany County Sheriff’s Officer.

 

The Allegany County Narcotics Task Force is a cooperative effort between the Maryland State Police, Allegany County Sheriff’s Office, the Cumberland Police Department and the Allegany County States Attorney’s Office and is part of the HIDTA Allegany County Drug Initiative.
