A fire in Cumberland’s North End is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s office. Firefighters responded to the 1000 block of Piedmont Avenue Sunday afternoon for a residential fire. The two-story single-family residence incurred approximately $40,000 in damage. The fire marshal is investigating the cause of the blaze that appears to have originated in a second-floor bedroom.
