A new law in Maryland will further limit drunk drivers on highways, “Noah’s Law,” named for Police Officer Noah Leotta who was struck and killed by a drunk driver while on duty, will require any driver convicted of a alcohol-related driving offenses to have an ignition interlock system in their vehicle. The system requires drivers to take a breathalyzer test that will prevent the car from starting if the blood alcohol content exceeds a certain limit. Maryland Senator Jeff Waldstreicher says this law will undoubtedly save lives…
“These ignition interlock devices are small, they’re discreet, and they save lives. They are not intended to punish anyone. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. They are intended to change behavior so that if you get in your car drunk, you cannot start it. Ignition interlocks work.”
