For the first time since its inception in 1994, there are no candidates from Allegany County running for Maryland House of Delegates seat 1C, which will leave the county with a total of just two house representatives in the General Assembly. It won’t be unprecedented as Leroy Myers of Washington County held the seat prior to current office holder Mike McKay- but it is the first time that no candidates from Allegany County are vying for the seat. Delegate McKay opted to make a run for the state senate, choosing not to seek a third term for the 1C seat.
