New books accuses former Governor

March 24th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

The author of a self-published book released online Wednesday claims a former Maryland governor orchestrated the federal prosecution of his chief of staff, who is now considered a wanted fugitive. The book covers much ground as the writer claims he spent two years researching and interviewing Roy McGrath. In the book, the author, claims what happened to McGrath is a political hit job and accuses former Governor Larry Hogan of orchestrating McGrath's prosecution to avoid political blowback of his own hiring decision. Federal prosecutors contend McGrath misled MES officials by implying Hogan supported paying him $233,000 in severance. The former governor  has denied approving the severance

McGrath, who  resigned as Hogan's chief of staff in August 2020, faces fraud and theft charges related to the payout. He was scheduled to appear in federal court last week but didn't appear.
