The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will perform a project this weekend to improve both Naves Cross Road NE park and ride lots at MD 144 (Naves Cross Road NE) near the I-68 (National Freeway) ramps in Allegany County, and will need all cars to be removed from the lots by Friday evening, September 9, to allow crews to begin work Saturday morning, September 10. Weather permitting, the project will be complete by 6 p.m. Sunday, September 11.
MDOT SHA crews will clean drainage ditches, cut trees and brush, paint pavement markings, and replace parking curbs. In preparation of the work, no vehicles will be allowed to enter the lots beginning at 2 p.m. Friday, and all vehicles already on the lots MUST be removed by 10 p.m. Friday. Cars not removed by 10 p.m. Friday will be towed at the owners’ expense.
Motorists can use the park and ride lot at the corner of MD 144 and Christie Road NE as an alternative during the rehabilitation project. Crews are using portable message boards along the highway as well as flyers to notify motorists in advance.
MDOT SHA works hard to maintain safe traffic mobility in work zones for our crews as well as our customers. Drivers need to stay alert, focus on driving, and look for reduced speed limits, as well as other driving pattern changes. Drive like you work here and slow down in construction zones.
