On Thursday, June 20th, 2024, the Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 800 block of Mt. Royal Ave for the report of a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers contacted one of the involved parties who advised they had been involved in a verbal altercation with another subject who had left the area on foot prior to officers’ arrival on scene. Officers were able to locate the other party a short distance away. Upon making contact, the subject was observed to have multiple injuries requiring medical attention. The subject advised officers that they had been involved in a verbal disturbance which escalated and turned physical. During the assault, the victim alleged that they had been struck multiple times and strangled. As a result, Darnell Anthony Davis, 38, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
