West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin fought long and hard for the completion of the Mountain Valley Pipeline that spans 303 miles of West Virginia and Virginia. The project was first announced in 2014 and faced challenges on environmental and community impact. Manchin included measures in a May 2023 stop-gap spending plan that got final permitting approved for the project.
