MOTOR VEHICLE THEFT ARREST

On Monday, January 27, 2025 at approximately 10:44 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the first block of N. Wineow Street for the report of a stolen motor vehicle in the parking lot. Police arrived and located the vehicle which was confirmed as stolen.  Officers contacted the staff who directed them to the suspects who were then detained.  Police identified the suspects as Jaimie Acosta, Megan Duffy, Ernest Counsil III.  After further investigation, Acosta, Duffy, and Counsil were placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking.  Duffy was found to be in possession of CDS Paraphernalia. It was also learned that Counsil had an active arrest warrant through Cecil County, MD. They were later seen by a District Court Commissioner for bond hearings.  Acosta and Duffy were held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $5,000 bonds. Counsil was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on Temporary Commitment-Recalcitrant.

CHARGES:  Fraud-Per. Ident. Avoid Prosecution, Theft: $25K to Under $100K, Motor Veh/Unlawful Taking, Obstructing & Hindering, False Statement

On Monday, May 22, 2023 at approximately 6:58 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department responded to UPMC Western Maryland for the report of a stolen motor vehicle.  Police contacted the complainant who reported that Dylan Miller stole a vehicle.  The officer contacted the owner and broadcasted a description of the stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was located traveling on Rt. 220 southbound.   A deputy of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office stopped the vehicle which was operated by Miller.  Miller was placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking.  The vehicle was released to the custody of the owner.  Miller was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and posted a $5,000 unsecured personal bond.
