Just one month remains to file to run for office in Maryland- and thus far many of the seats up for grabs locally aren’t generating much interest. The filing deadline was extended from Feb. 22 to March 22- the change made to allow the Maryland Court of Appeals to continue hearing legal challenges to the redistricting map recently approved by the General Assembly. In the city of Cumberland the office of mayor and two city council seats are up for election- but as of Tuesday there were no candidates for mayor and just two for the council seats. Mayor Ray Morriss, during his regular bi-monthly appearance on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” , said he has every intention of seeking a second term.
