Progressive Railroading Magazine is reporting more details about the work in the Cumberland CSX yards. After the hump and hump tower are removed, additional tracks will be laid to optimize switching capabilities. The work, which is scheduled to be completed before the end of the year, will increase the number and type of rail cars the yard can process for better delivery of CSX customer inventory. CSX is also doing similar work at rail yards in Ohio and North Carolina.
