Beginning on Monday, February 26th North Centre Street, between Dexter Place and Frederick Street, North Liberty Street, between Frederick Street and Pershing Street, and Baltimore Street, between Mechanic Street and George Street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Matt Idleman, Deputy Director of Engineering for the City of Cumberland says "as construction progresses downtown, the construction zone is also becoming more congested. The safety of visitors to downtown, as well as the construction workers, is our priority during construction."
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained. Pedestrian access to all buildings downtown will also be maintained. Visitors to downtown are encouraged to utilize the Center City Parking Garage on George Street, which is offering 2 hours of free parking. This closure is anticipated to remain in effect until April 1st. Additional information will be released in the event the closure duration is extended or shortened.
