As the Union Rescue Mission begins work on their new location at Franklin and Centre Streets, Executive Director David Ziler tells WCBC that they are in need of money and volunteers. Those who are interested in volunteering anytime through the end of the year can assist in preparing for construction scheduled to start in January or help with finishing work later on. This volunteer work will help save the mission money in the project that is budgeted at just under $3 million dollars…
“From September to January we’re taking any volunteers to do any demolition that needs done right now to save us money. Then Belt Construction is coming in January to kind of take over the construction for a period of time and they’re going to leave us kind of finished drywall. And then at the end of it, we’re going to need volunteers for a couple months to help us paint, do finishing work, so we hope to use the churches and any volunteers out there.”
