Frostburg State men's wrestling program headed South on Saturday to compete in the Carolina Clash, hosted by Lander University. The Bobcats went 0-4 on the day, coming away with 18 team points.

The Bobcats faced off against Mount Olive to start the day, facing a tough side in the Spartans, whose only dual loss on the season came from number one ranked Lander earlier in the year. Freshman Alex Bellarin lost narrowly 13-9 at 125 lbs, with closest contested match of the dual was at 285 lbs from freshman Gavin Bage, losing by decision 7-6. The total score of the dual was 46-0 Mount Olive. 

FSU took on UNC Pembroke in the second dual of the day. In a familiar theme, the Braves also had one dual loss on the season, as it too was Lander. Junior Thierno Diallo put up a fight in dropping a 6-2 decision at 133 lbs, as Bage picked up the first Frostburg win of the day, earning a hard-fought decision 2-1, with the match score being 41-3.

The Bobcats day only got harder, as the next opponent was the 18th-ranked team in the country, Belmont Abbey. The dual was a clean sweep for BAC, winning four matches by falls to win 44-0. Bellarin (12-8) and Diallo (9-7) once again had decisions just not go their way, as did freshmen Liam DeBaugh (13-9) and William Applegarth (2-1) at 165 and 197 lbs, respectively. 

Frostburg finished the day off against Coker and it was their best showing of the entire meet. Freshman Gage Heilbrun won a decision at 149 by a score of 15-8. DeBaugh earned a victory with a one point decision win at 5-4. That was followed by freshman Charlie Turney winning by a Fall at 4:13 mark, while Bage finished things up with his second win of the day, earning a 4-1 decision. The Cobras had done enough to take the match, in the end securing a 25-15 victory. 

After the final results, the Bobcats move to 4-4 on the year after all of the meets. The Bobcats return to action Wednesday December 6 when they travel to face McDaniel for a 3 PM start. For more information visit frostburgsports.com.
