On Monday, August 19th, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of Memorial Ave for the report of a male subject attempting to kick the door in. Upon arrival on scene, officers located the male subject and also spoke with the resident. It was learned that the male subject had come to the residence and was not allowed inside due to the late hours and his level of intoxication. The male subject then attempted to kick the door in to gain entry, causing damage to the home. As a result of the investigation, Cody George Edward Damon, 33, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest. At this time, it was also discovered that Damon had an active Arrest Warrant in reference to an incident that occurred on October 27th, 2023. During that incident, it was alleged that Damon had caused a disturbance inside Virginia Ave business. During the incident, Damon became upset over not receiving service and began to throw food inside the establishment. He then pulled the fire alarm as he left the property. As a result, charges were filed and an Arrest Warrant issued for the incident. Damon was transported to the Central Booking Unit at the Allegany County Detention Center where he currently awaits his Initial Appearance with the District Court Commissioner.
