So far, the Allegany County Health Department is reporting 13 percent of the county population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with about six percent having received both shots. Each of those percentages is slightly higher than the Maryland state average. Vaccine delivery was slowed last week by poor weather conditions.
The weather situation during the past week has played havoc with vaccine delivery. The Maryland Department of Health says that no deliveries would take place this weekend, but the Centers for Disease Control has given assurances that a majority of the shipments would arrive Monday, with the rest of Moderna backorders by Wednesday.
