The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) today announced an update on the top 10 and bottom 10 nursing home facilities in the state ranked by percentage of staff with at least one dose of a vaccine against COVID-19 and highly contagious variants. MDH also announced 14 nursing home facilities in the state that did not submit adequate staff COVID-19 vaccination data as required by the state.
On May 4, 2021, the Maryland Department of Aging launched the Skilled Nursing Facilities Vaccination Dashboard, which weekly publishes data on residents and staff vaccinated against COVID-19 at each of the skilled nursing homes and congregate care facilities in the state.
“Vaccinated staff at nursing homes and congregate care facilities in Maryland have taken the most important step they can to keep themselves, their families, friends, and those they care for safe from COVID-19 and the highly contagious Delta variant,” said MDH Secretary Dennis R. Schrader. “Staff who are still unvaccinated remain at risk of contracting and spreading COVID-19, hospitalization, and death.”
“COVID vaccination can mean life or death to a nursing home resident.” said Maryland Department of Aging Secretary Rona E. Kramer. “With that much at stake, no one should be sitting on the fence.”
