McKay Says Counties Need To Brace For Blueprint Increase

February 3rd, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Even with Governor We Moore’s budget plans to slow down the rollout for some of the initiatives in Maryland’s Blueprint for Education, the costs allocated to counties continues to climb each year.  Senator Mike McKay says the pressure on county budgets already burdened with increasing public works and safety costs is a real concern…

“I got a phone call today from a Washington County commissioner saying it looks like the Blueprint is going to cost Washington County $10 million more a year. They don’t know where that’s going to come from. You know, in all honesty, they were budgeting for four.”

WCBC News contacted Allegany County, but they have not received any information yet on what will be needed for the Blueprint locally.
