Across the nation, small and large cities have been dealing with an influx of immigrants, many of them in the country illegally. For the City of Cumberland, recent programs offering money to move to Western Maryland have some wondering if illegals may relocate to the area. Mayor Ray Morriss told WCBC that the relocation program has a very strict vetting process, and that the city has not seen any issues with any kind of immigrants in the area…
“At this point, we really don’t see any issues with any immigrants that are here or any of the new people that have come into Cumberland. Everyone seems to be assimilating well and we hope it continues that way. If it’s something that does become an issue, yes, we will absolutely address it.”
