Maryland is the eighth state in the nation to expand the slow-down/move-over law to include any vehicle on the side of the road with its hazard lights on or road flares displayed — not just for emergency vehicles, service vehicles and tow trucks…

According to data from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety, 566 people were killed and more than 14,000 were injured between 2016 and 2018 in accidents involving a disabled vehicle when visibility was an issue. It's why AAA hopes the new law will help.
