It’s Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week through Saturday in the state of Maryland, just in time to stock up on those back-to-school items. State Comptroller Brooke Lierman says the state will suspend the 6% sales tax on qualifying items of clothing and shoes under $100 or the first $40 for backpack sales. Between August 11 and 17, any single qualifying article of clothing or footwear priced at $100 or less will be exempt from sales tax, regardless of the number of items purchased.
