Maryland State Police said troopers are prepared for potential protests planned by truck drivers later in the week. State police said in a statement released Monday that the department is aware of potential protests planned by truck drivers in and around the nation's capital region.
State police said they are working with federal, state and local agencies to monitor developments.
"State police are coordinating with public safety partners in neighboring states and will be ready to respond appropriately with adequate resources to ensure the free flow of traffic throughout the routes of travel," the statement read.
Troopers from MSP's Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and Automotive Safety Enforcement divisions, in addition to troopers at barracks around the region, are monitoring any developments, state police said.
