Maryland Recognized for Medicaid Unwinding Efforts

July 17th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

The Kaiser Family Foundation is recognizing the Maryland Department of Health as a national leader as it completes a yearlong Medicaid redetermination process.

In March of 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services paused coverage renewals due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and enrollees were not required to complete the renewal process to maintain coverage.

Maryland was among the top states in using federal flexibilities and waivers to assist individuals in ensuring they had medical coverage.
