On Saturday, November 9, 2024 at approximately 4:11 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 400 block of Maryland Avenue for an assault. Police contacted the alleged victim who reported that she had been assaulted by an unknown male. The suspect, who was later identified as Michael Brailsford, was no longer on scene. The victim explained that Brailsford began threatening her inside the store. She explained that when she left the store, Brailsford followed her out, assaulted her, and stole property from her. After further investigation, Brailsford was located on Auburn Avenue and placed under arrest. He was then transported to Central Booking. Brailsford was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
