Maryland’s Attorney General is urging consumers to be vigilant against shopping scams. Attorney General Anthony Brown says fake websites designed to steal personal information increase over the holidays. Brown released some tips to help consumers avoid being taken advantage of online. These include researching retailers before purchase, checking the web address to make sure it begins with h-t-t-p-s, which means it is secure, clicking through online ads to fake websites, and buying online gift cards that are often counterfeit.
